The poor farmer Rogo finds a huge diamond in his field, but before he can sell it the village witchman steals it with the help of local no-goods Moko and Nick. A visit to the police yields nothing when the latter refuses to believe Rogo's fantastic claim.

Watching her grandfather being imprisoned by the witchman and his fellow scoundrels, little Reena follows the old man's advice to run to the Old Place (the Pheenix ruins, see D115 The Lost City of Pheenix) and call for the Phantom, who wastes no time following a seemingly never ending trail of mayhem...
