The story:
Saving Trader Joe from two vicious robbers, the Phantom oversees the perpetrators being tried by a Wambesi court and sentenced to a life in 'The Crater', a mysterious penal entity only known to the jungle chiefs.
The Phantom's curiosity turns to alarm when his good friend Waran is similarly convicted for a crime he did not commit. In order to affect an appeal, the Ghost Who Walks must himself enter the forbidding place 'of fire and smoke'...
