The story:
On learning that a giant bird has descended outside the Wambesi village and flown away with two cows on two successive nights, the Phantom is first dubious that the men guarding the herds are trustworthy witnesses, but the next night the Phantom sees the bird with his own eyes.

When the next attack takes place several nights later, the Phantom is prepared. To the sheer alarm of the onlookers, he manages to hitch a ride with the massive bird and is taken on a long journey to a place that defies description...
