The story:
Repeated references in the chronicles to ???The Guardian of the Eastern Dark?? bring a puzzled Phantom to Old Man Mozz, who recites a story of lands beyond the Misty Peaks where people once worshipped Zaal, a god of Terror who demanded human sacrifice, but whose reign was stopped by the 9th Phantom.

Meanwhile, our Phantom is confronted with a new and lethal threat: drug peddlers have infiltrated the jungle to sell heroine to unsuspecting youths. Tracing the source to a chilling place he has recently heard about, the Phantom is forced to follow in his ancestor's brave steps....
