Returning to the jungle, the Phantom is petitioned by the jungle chieftains, who are worried about a brewing war in the neighbouring mountain kingdom of Pathia, where the king's spoiled daughter Princess Gwena has accepted proposals of marriage from two eager pretenders to the throne.
In a daring raid, the Phantom kidnaps the princess and brings her to the Deep Woods, where she is to stay indefinitely to avert an all-out war and until a way is found out of the current impasse. However, things become even more complicated when the princess falls in love with the Phantom and her childhood love Major Carl enters the Deep Wood as the king's emissary...
