The story:
A tom-tom message alerts the Phantom that a plane has dropped 'deadly smoke' over a Wambesi village before vanishing. On arrival, the Phantom summons Dr. Axel to the village, where a diagnose of death by poisonous gas is given.

After being told that a second plane carrying a 'glowing eye' swept over the village and that both planes left in the direction of the kingdom of Zimba, the Phantom infiltrates Zimba in an effort to confront its autocratic ruler...
