The story:
In order to recover from the injuries he sustained in S001 The Leauge of Lost Men the Phantom leaves the Deep Woods for recuperation in Morristown. At the same time, a safari led by Colonel Winn is heading towards the same destination, the Colonel bearing a secret, cryptic message that must be delivered to its recipient at any price.

Coming under attack in Morristown harbour, the Colonel is initially saved by the Phantom, but is later fatally injured. Before he dies he asks the Phantom to deliver the cryptic message to an intelligence operative at a hotel in Aden.

Assuming the Colonel's identity and thwarting several more murder attempts, the Phantom follows the mysterious trail until the coded message can finally be delivered and deciphered, but is it too late to prevent a tragedy of gigantic proportions?...
