Lee Falk

Lee Falk started the Phantom strip  back in 1936. He wrote the strip until 1999, after which others continued his work. We can still read both the Sunday and daily versions in the papers.

The art on the strip was done by several artists, displaying rather different styles over time. The classic work from 1936 to 1961 was started by Ray Moore and continued by Wilson McCoy. When Wilson McCoy died in 1961, a more modern style was introduced and the strip itself was updated. The art on the strip was crafted by Sy Barry until 1994, when he retired.

This index will give you visual and textual information about every story written for the US papers from 1936 until today (ongoing). To make it easy for the reader to identify the stories, we have included the two first strips of every daily and the first page of every Sunday. The information regarding first printing dates, artist and writer is included for every item, as well as info about reprints in Frew's The Phantom (Australia) and Fantomet (the Norwegian magazine).
We have also included a blurb for every story, put together by Phantom lover and expert LennartMal.

I hope you will enjoy using our index.
